Neutrality & offsetting claim
wasserneutral
Forbudt i sig selvUdsagn, der uden undtagelse er forbudt i henhold til EmpCo – f.eks. generelle neutralitetsudsagn baseret på kompensation.
What does “wasserneutral” mean?
The term claims that a product's or company's water use is fully neutralised through offsetting measures. Such offset-based neutrality claims will regularly be treated as impermissible from the cut-off date of 27 September 2026, because they suggest a balance that cannot be reliably substantiated. Advertising with it nonetheless risks challenges as a misleading environmental claim.
Why this term is risky
Claims that base climate or environmental neutrality essentially on offsetting emissions are considered especially risky under the EmpCo transposition. The new annex to the UCP Directive covers blanket neutrality claims based on offsetting; from the 27 September 2026 deadline they are regularly impermissible – regardless of whether certificates were purchased.
