What does “B Corp” mean?
B Corp refers to a certification intended to assess a company's social and environmental standards. With genuine, independent certification its use is permissible; it only becomes misleading when advertised without a valid certification or beyond the assessed scope. The term is therefore not impermissible as such, only when used without substantiation.
Why this term is risky
Claims that rely on a label or certificate are only as robust as the system behind them. Self-awarded or not independently verified “labels” carry a high risk of being misleading.
