What does “grünes Investment” mean?
The term promises an especially environmentally friendly or climate-positive investment. As a general environmental claim it is only permitted under the EmpCo Directive with concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence documenting the actual use of funds and impact. Without transparent criteria and evidence the assertion stays vague and can mislead.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
