Label & certification claim
Fairtrade
Context-dependentStatements whose admissibility depends heavily on context and specific evidence.
What does “Fairtrade” mean?
Fairtrade denotes a label for fairly traded goods with defined social and environmental criteria. With genuine, independent certification its use is permissible; it becomes risky when the mark is used without a valid certification or for uncertified components. The term is not impermissible as such, only when used without substantiation.
Why this term is risky
Claims that rely on a label or certificate are only as robust as the system behind them. Self-awarded or not independently verified “labels” carry a high risk of being misleading.
