What is the EmpCo Directive?

EmpCo (Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition, Directive (EU) 2024/825) amends EU consumer-protection law and tightens the rules for environmental claims. Member states apply the new rules from 27 September 2026.

Does EmpCo-Test replace legal advice?

No. EmpCo-Test is an automated technical screening and general information. A binding legal assessment of your individual case is provided only by a qualified law firm. We do not write or rephrase any texts.

How does the AI context check differ from a keyword search?

Accepted Answer

Plain keyword searches flag every occurrence of a term. Our AI evaluates each hit in sentence context and distinguishes an advertising claim from quotations, explanatory blog text, navigation labels or statutory text — sharply reducing false positives.

Question 4

Which terms are especially risky?

Accepted Answer

The riskiest are neutrality claims based on offsetting, such as "climate neutral", "CO₂ neutral" or "net zero". Generic claims like "sustainable" or "eco-friendly" are only permitted with recognised substantiation.

How many pages are scanned?

The free check scans up to 5 pages. Paid scans cover up to 150 pages per domain and scan.

Where is my data processed?

Accepted Answer

We host in the EU and do not share your data with third parties. We use processors for payment, email and the AI check; details are in the privacy policy.

Can I cancel my subscription easily?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The "cancel contracts here" button lets you cancel without logging in, in line with § 312k BGB. The customer portal is also available in your dashboard.

Which languages are supported?

EmpCo applies across the EU. We scan and report in seven languages: German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Danish and Dutch.
