Generic environmental claim

natürlich

Requires proof

General environmental statements that are only permitted with recognized proof.

What does “natürlich” mean?

In environmental advertising, the word natural implies that a product is especially close to nature or environmentally benign, without clarifying what the claim actually refers to. Under the EmpCo Directive such a general environmental claim is only permissible where a recognised, excellent environmental performance can be shown with concrete, publicly accessible evidence; without that proof the statement is generally regarded as misleading.

Why this term is risky

Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
