What does “ressourcenschonend” mean?
Resource-efficient implies reduced use of material, energy or water without naming the reference point or the extent of the saving. The EmpCo Directive requires such an environmental claim to be backed by concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence of the actual environmental performance; absent this, the claim is generally misleading.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
