Generic environmental claim
naturbelassen
Soumis à justificatifAffirmations environnementales générales admises uniquement avec un justificatif reconnu.
What does “naturbelassen” mean?
The term asserts that a product is unprocessed or free of intervention and therefore especially natural. As a general environmental claim it is only permitted under the EmpCo Directive with concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence. If processing steps or additives are concealed, the advertising is misleading.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
Legal basis
Anhang I Nr. 4a UGP-RL i.d.F. EmpCo (EU) 2024/825 (allgemeine Umweltaussage) / § 5 UWG
The stated legal basis is an assessment, not a conclusively reviewed legal opinion and not individual legal advice.
