What does “recycelbar” mean?
Recyclable promises that a product can genuinely be recovered at the end of its use, which presupposes that suitable collection and reprocessing routes actually exist. Under the EmpCo Directive the claim is only permissible with concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence; where recyclability exists only in theory, it is regarded as misleading.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
