What does “energieeffizient” mean?
Energy-efficient asserts low energy consumption but stays vague without a reference point, since it is unclear compared to what and by how much the product is supposed to be more efficient. Under the EmpCo directive the claim is permissible only with concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence, such as a substantiated metric or classification. Absent such proof, the term is misleading as a general environmental claim.
