What does “energiesparend” mean?
The term promises lower energy consumption compared to a usually unnamed reference product. As a general environmental claim it is only permitted under the EmpCo Directive with concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence. Without a clear comparison benchmark and a measurable saving the advertising is misleading.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
