What does “naturnah” mean?
The claim evokes the idea of an especially untouched product or process with minimal intervention. As a general environmental claim the EmpCo Directive requires concrete, recognised and publicly accessible evidence for the asserted closeness to nature. Without clear criteria and proof the term stays vague and can mislead.
Why this term is risky
Blanket, unspecific environmental claims without concrete, verifiable evidence are considered misleading where no recognised outstanding environmental performance is demonstrated. They remain permissible only with concrete, publicly accessible proof – such as a recognised certification.
